Guillaume Richer studied Biomedical Sciences at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. From February to April 2017, as part of the master program of Biomedical Sciences, he worked with the Biology of the Testis research group on the encapsulation of testicular cells in gelatin hydrogels. Following his graduation, he joined the BITE group as a PhD student in August 2018. During his first months at BITE, he worked on the creation of 3D bioprinted alginate-based testicular constructs supporting in vitro spermatogenesis of mouse spermatogonial stem cells. His current work focusses on reproducing the histological architecture and essential components of the human spermatogonial stem cell niche in 3D bioprinted scaffolds to support human in vitro spermatogenesis.
